Sokoto State Plans Mass wedding

The Sokoto State Government says it will conduct mass wedding for 100 couples in the next one month.

Revealing this to newsmen in sokoto, the state Commissioner of Religious Affairs, Alhaji Mani Katami, said the government would spend 32 million naira on the exercise, adding that a one-week training on skills acquisition would be organized for the prospective couples.

The commissioner who further revealed that the state government would pay the bride price of intending brides added that they would be provided with bridal materials which include beds, mattresses, and other household items.

It is worthy to note that government sponsored mass weddings have become common in some states of northern Nigeria with the latest being conducted by Kano state in which 1,520 couples were wedded in last month.
