Court Upholds Niger state Governor Nomination
The Supreme Court has
upheld the nomination of governor, Alhaji Abubakar Bello Sani as the All
Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2015 governorship
election in Niger state.
An APC governorship
aspirant, Mr. Mustapha Babangida, had approached the Niger State High Court to
challenge the outcome of the primary which Governor Sani Bello emerged as the
governorship candidate. Babangida lost the suit at both the trial court and the
Court of Appeal.
Delivering the judgment,
Justice Kumai Akaahs, ruled that the odds were against Mr. Mustapha Babangida,
as evidence before the court indicated that he bought the party’s governorship
nomination form when the time had already lapsed.
